AE is Auto Enginuity it is a scan tool that is pc based that we use to troubleshoot the trucks. Are you sure that the little ball did not move from its position when you took the non servicable plug out? with out that in place the pump cannot develop high pressure and thus will not fire the injectors.
The ball came out, but I dropped it back in just as the instructions said. He said it was real easy as the ball only goes in one way.
You could try a few more times, but if there's oil in the reservoir, it shouldn't take much more to fire.
If it's still not starting, then something went wrong somewhere. It's at that point you'll have to start double checking your work to see if you left something unplugged or installed incorrectly, or you'll have to hook up a diagnostic scanner and start seeing if there are any trouble codes, or if the parameters to start are not being met (ie: oil pressure too low, voltage too low, etc.)
If you can have some one crank the truck while you are under the hood. Listen for a hissing noise from the hpop. If you hear a hiss the ball is onthe wrong side.
Well, that was it. That *&@#! little ball is gone. New ball on the way and back to square one. ARGH! Thanks to Bob at Dieselorings for all of his help.

I had a feeling that was the problem. Bob is a great guy to deal with. I had the honor of meeting him just a couple of weeks ago!

I have some friends up in Greeley. Maybe next time I go ride sleds in WY, I'll swing by and shake his hand. Gotta get nose plugs though. I gag every time I drive through there.
So, as I was cleaning up stuff again and lining it up for re-installation I noticed that the bolt that holds the gear on the oil pump was a tad bent. How, I don't know. But I do know that it has to be torques to 94 ftlbs and that is damn tight! Can I go to any normal parts store and get one. Or is a Grade 8 one sufficient?
If I can't find an industrial grade bolt of the same size and thread at work, I need to know where I can find one.
Sorry to hear about your aggravation. Made me wonder though what Ford does to work the lines clear instead of putting 100 miles or so on em... Or at least what they used to do.
