upfitter switches

Just got my new F250 S/C 6.7 golden bronze. Anyone know how to hook things up to the upfitter switches. Found it in the manual but no help at all, went to the website and can't download for some reason. I thought with these upfitter switches adding devices would be easy.

I hooked them up on my 06. There should be four wires under the dash with rubber caps on the end just look in the manual to see the rating on them two are higher then the others.

What did you hook them up to? I used mine for strobe lights and reverse lights.

Ok, I have a dumb question I guess.... Sorry if this is obvious to everyone else.

I am looking at the Upfitter switches on my truck. I have read this post and downloaded the service bulletin as well as read the owner's manual (which is pretty much worthless when it comes to the Upfitter switches). Anyway....

I have found the 4 blunt cut wires next taped to the wiring harness under the dash to the left to the left of the steering column. What I don't understand are there four more blunt cut wires under the hood somewhere for attaching external items such lights or do I have to run my own wires back out of the cab to the engine compartment?

My other question is there a common / ground wire that I safe to use for attaching internal electronics to? If so, someone point me two it please.

Regards,
gascan

If you look at Page 4 of Q180-A.pdf linked above you'll find 4 pass through wires...

Not having the truck yet this is a bit confusing.
Are the under dash and under blunt cut wires both connected to the up-fitter relays?

Powering on 1 switch powers 2 wires?

Reading the Bulletin it was nice to see that the switches will not be carrying a load and are used for relays.

No. There is one wire stub connected to each upfitter switch relay.

Then there are 4 wires which pass through the firewall. They are not connected to anything. You can use those to connect gadgets outside to the upfitter switch relays if you want to. Saves you from having to run your own wire through the firewall.

Connect the stubs to control the device via one of the upfitter switches.

Device ----------- pass thru wire ------------- under dash stub

Battery + -----------upfitter relay --------------- under dash stub

Get a cheap pair of driving lights ($14 at wal mart) and mount them under the bed rail just behind the wheel wells, hook them up to upfitter #3. Very nice for hooking up the 5er in low light conditions.

Great idea. Can you take a photo of where you installed the lights and post it for us?

Thanks,
gascan
