I would but I don't have it done on my '11 yet. I had them on my '08 but no pics. and truck is gone.

If you get small lights you can use 3/4" self tapping screws and install the light so it is up under the bed rail, or at least very close to being under and they really are hidden well. Nobody will even see them unless they look right at it. I would mount to the rear, about a foot from the tailgate. If the lights are in front of the 5th wheel hitch the light gets blocked and you can't see the kingpin.

If I get around to it i'll post a pic when I do it. Won't be until Friday tho. I'm currently 800 miles from home working.

Hey guys, does anyone have a pic of the 4 leads coming out around the steering column? I found a group of wires that are blunt cut and capped right in that area (about 15 wires) but none of them match the color code that I have read in the suplimentals.

I am so frustrated that everyone is hooking up outfitters, and I cant even find the wires.

Never Mind. I had my son get in there and look for them. On my truck there is an amp or something right there, and it is not accessible from the panel under steering column... you have to go into contortionist mode to find them

Please help!

I am having the same issue finding the wires to/from the upfitter switches, I want to run a set of fog lights and have mounted them but I have been unbable to find the wires from the upfitter cluster to hook into. Can you please tell me where they are located? I have 2011 Ford F250. Thanks.
Eric

I have yet to find the pass through wires under the hood. The picture shows them coming out of the harness outboard of the master cylinder. There is nothing coming out of that harness on my truck. I really dont want to unravel the harness to try and find them but I may have to.

One of the other forums has pictures, looks like it is the big harness near the top left side, behind the fuse box, near the firewall

sorry to dig up an old post but figure it is better than starting a new one....

My '11 F250 did not come with the upfitter switches and I am going to add them (placed order today)..... should I still have the blunt cut wires under the hood ??
I see the picture in the link but anyone else have a better picture or directions to help in finding them (if they are even there on mine) ??

The blunt cut wires that pass through the firewall are already in your truck but the upfitter wires come with the upfitter fuse box.

I am so confused.... not sure what the blunt wires under the hood are for and if they are hooked to the upfitter switches and color matched the same.....

So when I want to hook up a set of lights do I wire them to one of the wires under the dash or one of the wires under the hood ??

I don't follow the diagram earlier in the thread (post #13).
Can someone dumb it down for me, sorry ??

I understand which wires you're asking about now.

You don't currently have the four blunt cut wires from the upfitter fuse box.
When you get the upfitter fuse box in hand, you'll see the four blunt cut wires and this will make better sense to you.
The color code of the upfitter blunt cut wire will relate to an AUX switch.
I wish I would have taken pictures of the harness and blunt upfitter wires prior to install but I didn't.

There are many blunt cut wires for various purposes but the two sets you'll hear most about are the four from the upfitter fuse box and four that the factory has already passed through the firewall for you (where the name pass-thru came from) for various needs.
What some members were discussing below were the pass-thru wires.
These can be utilized with the upfitter wires but are not required to wire something to an upfitter wire to be controlled with an AUX switch.
You can run your own wire from the rear bumper through a specific hole in the floorboard to an upfitter blunt cut wire, too.

ok, I found the four blunt cut wires under the hood but how does a person configure them to use with the upfitter switches ?
What does the four underhood blunt cut wires connect too under the dash ? are they powered or are they blunt cut under the dash too ?

I found 18 (I think) blunt cut wires under the dash near the firewall... any idea what these are for ?

Those four pass-thru are blunt cut on both ends.

The others with that large bundle are for various purposes.
For example, one is the wire that controls SEIC if you add a resistor between the SEIC control wire and an AUX wire.
Another is for BCP.
I couldn't tell you what all those different wires do and I'm sure there is documentation on those somewhere.

that makes more sense.... are the four blunt cut wires under the hood routed under the dash with the other 18 blunt cut wires ?

Okay, so I take the upfitter blunt cut and splice it to the blunt cut under the dash.... find same blunt wire under the hood and wire it to what ever I want to power. Are the wires of different sizes/gauges or can a person use any one of them just the same (under hood blunt wires) ?

Thank you for all the explaining !

I have not used those four pass-thru wires so I can't say for sure.
That is certainly where I would begin looking first (the bundle of wires).

The upfitter fuses are different amps and two wires are one gauge and two are a different gauge from what I could tell.
As far as the pass-thru, I don't know what gauge wire those four are and if they are different.
You'll have to wait for an answer for someone who has used those.
