Question f250 wheel interchange guide?

Is there a chart or something somewhere? I'm wanting to ditch the steelies on my '08 4x4 but aren't sure which other wheels will fit off of what years. thanks!

5 year old thread. i am pretty sure he figured it out already.
and you info is wrong too. by 08 ford was using 17 or 18 inch wheels, and early metric 16 inch wheels will not fit over the rotors and calipers.

ok Tom what year did ford go to a metric bolt pattern? Yes this post is 5 years old. So what? Do you think people stop looking at posts after a given amount of time?

This thread is the one that comes up during search. Is there a thread that answers the question that we could link to from here?

Bolt patterns, offset, and size to fit over calipers are all relevant to compatibility of a wheel.

97 was last year for 8x6.5 bolt pattern, 99 was first year for 8 x170 bolt pattern.
if i remember correctly, 05 was first year for 17 inch wheels, and 16's will not fit over the brake calipers.

Awesome, thanks! Do you have any info on offsets/backspacing?

This thread is now 18 years old. Guess I'll submit my recent experience just the same. I just bought a 99 Super Duty 4X4. All stock except for a leveling kit up front. It came with aftermarket wheels and tires on it and the seller no longer had the originals. Unlike (it seems) everybody else, I WANT steel wheels on my truck. I live out in the boonies and work a small farm and need something durable and that I don't have to fret over scratching up. Plus, I just like the look of the factory wheels. My F250 and 350 bumpsides have the plain old steel factory wheels on them. I've never owned anything fancier than the good old white spokes that are on my F100. Anyhow... I went online looking for steel wheels and found some 17" wheels off a newer 202X truck. 8X170 and hub-centered, so what if it's an inch bigger in diameter. (She might care, I suppose). I bought the wheels, took them to a tire shop and had brand new tires mounted and balanced, took them home to put on, and ! I just made a very expensive mistake! And I did it times 5 as I got a spare also. I didn't notice if they hit the caliper, I just saw that they hit the steering knuckle, got pissed, and didn't look any further. I've thought about putting spacers on, but I'm really not a big fan of those either and that will be just another big expense. So, the wheels and tires I just bought are now on marketplace and I'm back to searching for the correct wheels. I'm selling them for what I've got in them. ($1485 just in case anybody is interested). My friend is letting me borrow a wheel/tire that came off of his 03 for a spare. I'm doing a lot of traveling at the moment and don't like being without a spare. The spare is only good enough to get me to a tire shop as it is much smaller than what's on the truck. Another reason why I like to stay OEM or close to. Don't want to be stuck somewhere for a day or two because that fancy tire is not part of the normal shop stock. I did a quick comparison between my friend's 16" wheel and the 17" wheels. This isn't 100% accurate, but the backspacing on the 16" wheel was about 4-1/2 inches and on the 17" wheel, I think it was about 7-1/2 or 7-3/4. Somewhere around there. It was just a quick tape and eyeball measurement. I didn't measure the offset. So that's my hard luck story. Hope it helps someone else from making the same mistake. As they always say, "never assume".
