Yep, I watched a competition on another Ford site a few years ago, the race to bankruptcy, who could have the biggest, and fastest with the most mods, I believe I have the better collection, I call them "paid for," no loans or maxed out credit cards on them, I can jump in and go anywhere, granted they aren't the most beautiful when put beside most of them at car shows but they aren't costing me anything. BTW the older one has a trophy of it's own, got one at it's second contest, where the other one has never won anything.
Nothing against anyone for their rides on here, but I have seen people get so wrapped up in making their truck stand out, they didn't notice how much money they were spending, and debt they encountered, if you have a car, truck, house, boat payments, and multiple credit cards, I don't envy anything you are doing.
I can say that mine are paid for, but where the parts cash to finish them is going to come from, I just dunno...
I consider loans and especially credit cards the devils pitchfork.
I'm re-thinking what gearbox I want in my V8 Ranger toy, too.
All that will have to wait until I get done with my over winter landscaping efforts. If I don't have a safe place to keep them, it won't matter what else I have done.
Moved here to Tn about a year ago from NM and actually have down time to spend working on my truck. Bought her in 2010 and just never had the time to invest into it. Never even had a full tool set, just always used my step-dads stuff but not for long. =D
My mechanical knowledge is pretty much limited to my Haynes manual which is why I ended up here as for the last 3 months couldn't get my truck started. Turns out it was the PIP. Replaced the distributor Sunday and it lives again! Now to start working on all the other quirks. =D
I know she isnt much to look at, but its MY first truck.
You could do a lot worse than an extended cab, that's for sure!
When I first drove my old "BLUE MULE" '82 F100 I was surprised that I couldn't reach across the cab all the way to pop open a wing vent - you have enough room in that thing to raise a dang family, much less chuck a few things in the back of the cab...
*and you'll never have to worry about how far you can slide the drivers seat back on a long trip
Re-thinking my Ranger addiction I wish I had a longer cab because the top of the seat back was always slap up against the rear cab wall.
