I have been looking for a f250 for a while. Finally I found one that met all my criteria. It was used and not at a Ford dealer. I made the purchase with 4yr./48k coverage starting at time of purchase (it is a mirror image of the Ford warranty). It is 100% refundable within a certain time frame. I prefer to have a Ford warranty for various reasons. I went to flmowners.com to get a quote and it told me my vehicle is not eligible. Does anybody know why this is? Am I better off going to the local dealer anyhow? My current plan goes to 88K.
Here is what I was told and handed a brochure from the Ford dealer about their extended warranties. Warranty: Diesel EngineCare. 7 year/200k coverage 13 covered components. $2990.00. Warranty: Diesel EngineCare Plus. 21 covered components. $3250.00. All warranties begin at warranty start date which is 12-06-2008 on my truck. Extended warranties must be purchased before 3 yrs or 36k. So these extended warranties are basically giving you an extra 2 yrs. This is Ford SuperDuty Power Stroke Engine Plans. Extended Service Plans for Superduty Vehicles with Power Stroke Engines. Where did you here you can get an extended engine warranty as long as youre under 100k? Who will be doing the warranty work?
Ford Service dept. told me I could purchase the Diesel EngineCare. 7 year/200k coverage, provided I buy before the 100k manufacturers warranty runs out.
so I have 70k on top of the 45k when I bought it. 115, 168 miles, or 9/4/2014... and if I get the 200k engine care, before 100k..
its a total of 7 yrs from warranty start.. or 11/2007.. so it might not help me out much. 2 more months than the coverage I have above..
should be 7yrs from when u buy the coverage, not warranty start.. but I don't make the rules..
You were given bad info and really high prices. The diesel 2/100K warranties are available as long as you are under the 5/100K warranty. They also run under $2K, unless there was a major price increase in the last 6 months. I was looking into one for our '05 that had roughly 6 months and 35K miles left on the factory warranty and the cost was around $1800 this time last year.
I did the same as swetdeil above - bought used at a Chrysler dealership and purchased the full blown extended warranty for $2700 for 4/48k from my purchase date - the truck already had 40k on it. So that takes me to 88k miles. This is 100% refundable within 60 days which is why I would like to purchase the warranty from Ford and then by the next warranty at 100k miles. The warranty price is the same price for the same coverage that a Ford dealership quoted me. The same dealership did not tell me that I could/could not come to them and buy a warranty on a vehicle that I did not buy from them. The Chrysler dealership said that I could but that Ford would have to do their own inspection of the vehicle which would cost $500-$700. FYI - I priced all warranties Ford had to offer and was quoted between $2500-$3000.
I talked to a Ford dealer yesterday. I have 40k miles - my only option is to purchase the 7/200 (from in servcie date) for $2770 but before it hit 100k miles.
check with factory discount warranty with is a sponser for ford truck enthusiasts and i was quoted a ford premium care plan for my 05 for less than what you are talking about bur i have to purchase it before my ford esp that i have now expires in january.it would be an extension of what i have now
