It looks to me like the 7.3 has a wider core but does not distribute the charge air evenly to all the tubes. The 6.0 cooler has tanks that allow for better air distribution. I'm sure EarnestEugene can better explain why the 6.0 cooler works so well, if you can understand his explination.

And from what I recall, isn't the 6oh IC good for at least 44psi? I'd love a bigger all aluminum cooler myself, but money's an issue for me LOL.

I have heard of the 6.0's blowing out ICs when the turbo vanes stick, I'd assume well under 44 psi, cus I don't think stock head gaskets can take that.

FWIW, we had one come in blowing the CAC tube off, at around 33-34 psi. Everyone I talked to about it was surprised it never blew the IC apart.

It's gonna be a while. Cash is short and I got a front end leak and ball joints to do first. Snow might be flying before I get it done.

Bringing back a old thread....Looks like Clay offers the Mishimoto 6.0 IC. I like the all alum. construction. Plus he offers the different size boots to retro a 7.3 When I have the cash, I will buy one to go with my new 38R turbo

Something to think about....I believe the aftermarket 6.0 coolers are bigger than the stock 6.0 coolers and I'm not sure it will fit in a 7.3 without modification.

It will fit in the 7.3. 7.3 cooler 30x18x2 6.0 cooler 30x21x2.5. Theres and earlier post here on how to and it gives you these sizes. I was at Morgan hill few months back with Clay and others and one of the guys bought the after market cooler from Clay and it fix nice. One thing one of the mounts is different and had to be fited. He tie it in for the trip home but really like it. I think he mit of lost a bolt or something.

Chet I have a factory 6.0 cooler in my truck. The factory coolers will fit. The bigger aftermarket 6.0 cooler is what I'm talking about. I have heard a couple stories of guys trying to squeeze them in but I don't believe the aftermarket 6.0 cooler will drop in without modification.

Depends on which ones, the Banks and the Mishimoto will drop in like a factory 6.0L

Good to know! I believe the info I had seen was on the Spears and it was not a drop-in.
