what would i have to do in order to convert my 79 1/2 ton d44 front end from 5 lug to 8 lug? i have a d70 rear and i want to be able to have the same lug rims all the way around the truck. any ideas?
It may be easier to just switch out the whole axle and upgrade it to a dana 60 which is an 8 lug axle. It would be stronger and take more of a beating, if thats what you plan on doing with it.
na lol i dont have the money to match gears and build new brakets for the new axle and all, i aready have cromoley axles on my 44 so im keeping it i just dont like the mix match lug pattern. i know it can be done and ive read other threads about it but its not clear to what exactly i need to do this swap. do you or anyone else know the diameters of the 8 lug rotors vs. the 5 lug ones? but yea if i had the money id definately go d60 front
i checked those sites they dont make anything like that, but im talking about home made stuff even if they did make a conversion it would probably be more than $500. but im just trying to figure out all the parts i need to swap over from a d44 HD to my normall straight axle d44
