Hello,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask for this info or if anyone out there can help. But I thought it was worth a try. :-)
I am at my wits end. I have a 1 ton, powerstroke diesel, 65,000 miles, not quite a month out of standard warranty. Has been starting a little hard lately, but I didn't think much of it until one day after it had been warmed up, it wouldn't start. Once cooled down, would start and run great. Made an appointment with the dealer I bought the truck from, took it in, two days later they come back with the diagnosis of leak in the high pressure oil line. Because of where it is located it will cost $2,500. I think this is ridiculous!! They give me a phone number to call, dealer says that they will at least probably give me the repair at a discount, I get the run around, two weeks later, they say sorry we can't help you, sorry about your luck (this is the customer service people, not the dealer). I think that to have to sink 2,500 dollars into a diesel that has less than 65,000 miles on it is an outrage.!! I am planning on waging war tomorrow. So far I have been trying to give them a chance to do the right thing. Has anyone ever had to fight for something like this, if so any advise? Thanks for taking the time to read.
Unfortunately I don't think you're going to get very far. Ford (and I'm sure the other mfgs as well) have tightened up on warranty and "just-out-of" warranty claims in these tough economic times. I would think the dealer could step in to help out but that may be a tough go as well. Good luck.
LORIEMC,
I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR AGRIVATION BUT 3THINGS TO KEEEP IN MIND.
1) WARRANTY IS BLACK AND WHITE ANYMORE. IT'S EITHER IN OR OUT OF WARRANTY THERE IS NO GRAY AREA THERE.
2) IF YOU HAD SEEN WHAT HAS TO BE REMOVED TO DO THE REPAIR I THINK YOU WOULD BE A LITTLE MORE UNDERSTANDING AS TO THE TIME THAT IT TAKES TO DO FIX THE HIGH PRESSURE OIL LINE.
3) YOU GET MORE FLYS WITH HONEY THAN YOU DO WITH POO.... BE NICE, POLITE, BUT YET FIRM AND ASK THEM TO CHECK WITH THERE FORD REP AND ALSO SEE IF THE DEALERSHIP WILL HELP YOU. ONE OR BOTH MAY HELP SOME UNDER SOMTHING CALLED "POLICY". GOOD LUCK
In the past I've been very lucky with getting some assistance from Ford on issues that they could have simply turned their backs on. I think my luck has run a out as well considering how things are going.
Your dealer has a lot more leverage with Ford than any of us do. Your dealer should be shaking the trees on your behalf if for no other reason, to make themselves look good in your eyes.
well that really does suck..! a month out and they won't assist. Call back and ask to esclate to another person. I would be all over that.
That's why I said his dealer should be a better advocate for him. One time my dealer told Ford that if they pay some, the dealer will pay some and I'll some. It worked and we were all happy.
The OP hasn't came back on, but I'm a stickler on details. He said he's a month out of "standard warranty", maybe he's dealing with extended warranty plan. We may never know unless he comes back.
