I traded in my '12 F350 for a long bed '13 Platinum model. I pull a 48 ft. enclosed trailer sometimes, so I need the extra turning radius. I was initially enjoying the truck, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much smoother the long bed truck rides! However, my enjoyment has been short-lived. This truck has electrical gremlins like crazy, and, as expected, none of them appeared when I took it in for service (so says the dealer). Not sure how long they tried to replicate the problems, but they're getting worse. Below are the problems that I can think of right now. Let me know if anyone else is having any of these same issues.
1. The truck continues to run when I turn the key to the off position and pull it out. It will shut the engine off when a door is opened. It does this about 1/3 of the time.
2. Sometimes it will honk the horn at me when I try to use remote start instead of starting the truck.
3. It will sometimes shut the air off if I do get to remote start the vehicle. It turns the air completely off after I put the key in the ignition and turn it on.
4. The auto setting for climate control isn't worth a crap. There are times that it will turn heat on when it is warm outside, but then it figures it out after a few minutes. I can turn the temp up, and it will INCREASE the fan speed. I typically run it manually so it doesn't completely annoy me.
5. The new dash layout has its issues as well. It's very slow to respond to any command at times, and sometimes it ignores it altogether.
6. It started a new one this morning. I ran into the store, and when I came back out and started the truck it turned the windshield wipers one for only one swipe.
Needless to say, I miss my 2012 truck. The 2013 has been to the dealer once with zero remedy, but it's getting ready to go back in. I'm telling them to keep it until they can fix something! It's ridiculous to deal with on a truck that stickers for $65,000 and started having issues with 500 miles on the odometer. I now have 3,100 miles on it! I was a diehard Chevy guy until I bought my 2012. I loved that truck, but I'm regretting the 2013. Anyone else experiencing any of these issues?
I'm sorry to hear about your issues, DBTG. I've heard about other electrical issues with the newer SDs, but not exactly what you're experiencing. Hopefully they'll get it solved for you.
I'm actually taking videos of things going wrong, and I'm going to give them a flash drive with them when I take it in. That will at least show them what's happening.

Sorry you are having issues with a brand new truck. I can only imagine your frustration.
Your description of #3 sounds correct(meaning no issue there). When you remote start the truck the computer will turn on the climate control to either cool or heat the truck. As soon as you put the key in the ignition and turn it to on position the climate controls go back to the setting you had when you last shut the truck off.
As for the other issues, I hope you get them all resolved.

Hi dontbethatguy,
I want to loop in your regional customer service manager so they can help. To get started, send me a PM with your name, daytime phone number, mileage, VIN, and servicing dealership. I'll get this into their hands.

That is the most frustrating thing to have a service department tell you that they couldnt seem to find any problem with your new vehicle when you have a few problems going on !
