It might seem kind of lame to the advanced folks on here, but I am posting results of my 100k servicing just to see if any good advice comes in replies. And to look at servicing from the less skilled point of view. I don't have the true skills or total desire to work on the truck on some things, so I used my shadetree friend for some of it. Today he serviced front and rear axles and the transfer case, and changed the serpentine belt. Said it was the hardest belt he ever changed, he has been at it for many years, neighborhood private shop, doesn't usually work on diesels, helps me with stuff when needed. $472 for that work, the dealership would have been over double.
I go in tomorrow for the Ford folks to pull and clean the EGR valve, check fuel pressure and FICM voltage. I still have a few weeks left on my 13 point Dieselcare warranty, and wanted them to take one last look at a few things. Now I guess you could make the case that I should have given Ford with ALL this work, but I figured it was fair to spread it around a bit.
The truck has been golden for the last 16,000 miles, I want to keep it that way for many more. And the previous issues were relatively minor.
