Fuel filter change, won't start

Changed fuel filters on my '03 and now it won't start. I have changed the filters in the past (every 15k miles, the truck has 140K miles) without any issues. The one thing I did differently was to use a turkey baster to suck out the excess fuel in the secondary filter prior to installing the new filter. The filters are Ford OEM. Any ideas would be appreciated.

take the top back off the secondary and see if it is full of fuel. After sucking it out you should have cycled the key 3 times to prime fuel system.

I had a problem once. When changing the frame mounted filter I didn't snap the filter into the cap. So now I snap the filter into the cap and then screw it into the housing. And then cycle the key 3 times.

As Tazo said or you have an O ring leaking at the primary filter.

I have filled the top reservoir twice, it went dry after two tries to restart. I snapped the fuel rail filter into place before reassembly. Lubed the cap o-ring prior to reinstall, same with the secondary filter. Each time I cycled the key for thirty seconds before trying to start the engine. No luck. Thank you all for the input.

One of the most popular jobs I do on 6.0's is to get them started after someone changes the fuel filters, The first thing to check, Fuel pressure. If you don't have any and I suspect you don't, check and make sure the fuel pump runs when you turn the key on. If it does, then you have to check the fuel pressure regulator pintle for rust particals. Carefully take the 4 small screws out of the regulator cover,( It's on the drivers side of the upper filter housing ) carefully remove the cover making sure you don't drop the spring and check for rust or dirt.If you find any, remove and clean out or better yet replace the HFCM, as the built in fuel pump has a tendancy to rust on it's outer housing and when you change the lower filter, well, you get the idea. flush the feed line to the upper filter, clean the upper bowel and install a new pintle and seal and recheck your fuel pressure, it should be around 55 psi. also, depending on how much air got by you might have to crank it alot to purge air or you can bleed the fuel rails by loosening the allen plugs on the back of the heads and running the pump until all air is bled, but this is a real pita.
Good luck.
Larry

The truck was diagnosed with a failed fuel pump. The pump assembly and harness was replaced and the truck is now starting with no problems. The truck has 140k miles. It may have been a coincidence that it failed after the filter changes....do not know. It did start up initially after the filter changes, but when I tried to start it an hour later, it wouldn't start. Again, thanks to everybody for your input. FTE rules!!!
