advice
It is so hard to give "price advice". So much depends on what you need, how mechanically inclined you are, the area you are in (supply and demand), etc.
I think the 2006 and 2007 years are developing a very good reputation. HOWEVER, they still have some weak points.
These are:
1. high pressure oil leaks
2. fuel pressure low (easy fix here) unless injector damage has already been done.
3. oil cooler plugging potential (not everyone experiences it, but many do).
Since it has already had head gaskets, so much depends on the quality of the job that was done. Were the heads checked for flatness, did they check for cracked heads, did they use bolts in the repair, if so - were the bolts torqued properly, etc.
Can you get ANY warranty? Can you affiord a $2000 - $3000 repair after you buy it. So many people strap themselves for cash w/ a vehicle purchase and then can not afford a big repair. IMO, anyone buying a used vehicle should have some cash set aside for this possibilty. this is true of ANY used vehicle - unless it is low mileage and has warranty left - but then you pay more.
but it is like practically any other addiction - it is fun.
I say this thing over and over but please look at engine hours.
hours x 25 = milage
We have to take in to account the total amout of time the engine has been running this is a big factor.
for example a truck with 50k miles and 6000 hours would really have 3x the miles (150k miles)
a truck with 50k miles and 2000 hours would be right on the money with 50k miles based on hours.
