I have a 65 240 with autolite 1100 one barrel. I need to get the thick (about 1/8" with brass gromets at hole locations) base gasket for my carb. The kit I got from Mac's only had a thin one and it leaks. The kit also came with the wrong spark control valve. It has an outer thread diameter of .497 measured with a caliper and the one on my carb is more like 3/8 diameter. I'm kinda peed at my self for not checking around a little more locally because I could have bought the same rebuild kit for half the price. Live and learn I guess. Any help folks ?
You may end up having to shift through the loose gaskets at your local parts store to find the base gasket. Although the hole gromet is no longer brass, they are plastic now. I know at our store we have 17 6"w x 18"l x 4"d card board containers over flowing with various gaskets.

Thanks for the response Harley, Any Ideas on the spark control valve? I'm told there are two sizes. I wonder if it a common parts store item.
Let's assume you have a C5TF-G 1 barrell carb. You'll find this code stamped on the main body or on the edge of the base. Hopefully on the main body... Without the code though, it is a shot in the dark honestly. An example is the Holley 1 barrell uses the same "9B572" number, see below, in the illustration but it is a power valve.
Here is an example of one that I found, it is for a C5TF-J 1 barrell carb though. The spark control valve is called "Valve Assy. - Dist. Vacuum Spark" has a part # of C3AZ 9B572-B. The gasket needed for the valve is C2AZ 9A588-B.
Sometimes these interchange at you local parts stores; most of the time they don't. Napa does the cross reference best. Autozone is still zoning out in my area. Kragen is well... we'll just say starting to get into the swing of it sort of. The newer catalogs that are sent questionable at best since most don't even list them any longer and computer interchange menu is getting better but it is dependant on the suppliers supporting it.
Harley, Again thanks, As it turns out your first guess is the carb. I have C5TF.G. The valve in mine is different where it enters the body of the carb. the threads do not cover the whole end (only about half threaded) and the spring and plunger like part protrudes into the carb whereas the replacement valve is threaded the all the way and the plunger spring part are enclosed in the end of the valve and don't stick out like mine. If that explains it. lol

(sigh) Ford did not have ID numbers stamped on Auto-Lite or Motorcraft carburetors that can be used to ID which carb kit they use.
These numbers only apply to the specific parts they are marked on, nothing else! The carb ID tag with its specific ID number is triangular in shape, bolted to the airhorn.
Holley carbs have list numbers marked on the carbs. When factory or dealer installed, have the same triangular shaped tag in the same location.
Today, most of these ID tags are missing.
There is no such thing as a base gasket with grommets. What you are descibing is the carburetor spacer plate.
The thin carb gasket fits between the carb and phoentic spacer plate. Carb kits usually do not include spacer plates.
NORTZ & VIRKLER FORD in Lowville NY has 1 = 315-376-6594.
MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS in Binghamton NY has 3 = 607-722-5371.
GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 198 = 800-543-4959.

Section 95 page 4 of the "Carb Tag OR Stamping Identification Guide to Service Carbs and Parts List Numbers" has the C5TF-G I was originally referencing, same data I find of section 95 page 18. I am basing this off of the limited data for the OP. It references to notes 1A "Stamping identification is located on the main body" and note 1K "Stamping identification is located on the edge of carburetor mounting flange" for the F-1 carb on several models and years. I understand your point that each carb is different blah blah blah, but am I reading the text incorrectly.
I was looking at every possible combination of data concerning the parts list and it confused the heck out of me when the data tag info and application charts which both reference Parts List 8C. Look for 8C, ah there it is, ok going vertical down the column for 8C and.... spark valve used on C5TF-J?!? But it is listed for the C5TF-G with the "C" in the right column. Stupid book.

You don't need the carb's ID number. All you have to do is... look up the carb by application. It's as EZ as pie.
1980 and later, you need the carb tag, cuz without it, you're SOL and have to look at a gazillion Calibration Code parts lists to find the right carb, and even then, you may still be SOL, as some trucks have THIRTY applications for the same year/model/series/engine/trans/CA or not...I kid you not.
8C is the correct parts list, C3AZ9B572B is the correct valve.
The book is only confusing to those unaware, besides...considering what you paid for it (and the other parts catalogs on CD's you borrowed from me), you shouldn't complain too much!
LOL I still share the love with other if they want a copy. So far only two people have believed me. The rest would rather I look it up but then again I do take my sweet time.
Do you have the 60-64 car manuals on CD yet? If your better half comes down again I can give her a set if you don't.
