why does my engine run so cold?

I'm kinda aggravated that my engine runs in the 170's range all the time according to my scan gauge. International says its normal temp is 192 to 219 and at 176 the cap system kicks in and sets the idle at 1400 does that mean I need a thermostat from international or buy the 203 and I love my ford don't get me wrong but if they would have designed a instrument panel that told you actual readings a lot of down time could be stopped sorry for my rant

Are you speaking of coolant temps? Do you have a manual or auto trans?

You aren't able to read coolant temp on the auto with a Scangauge. What is your EOT reading?

Yep, that is what I was getting at. I would also discourage you from using the 203* IMHO, the temps get higher than I prefer.

I'd get an aftermarket water temp gauge. That would be more accurate.

At the same speed and with the ambient temp in the 90's my coolant temp gauge reads about the same, 180-190* The truck seems happy in that range.

My truck runs in the 170's also (oil temp). Seems normal to me.
