2001 f-150 XLT Evap core

I have a 2001 f 150 with 165,000 miles and just replaced the a/c components under the hood Jan 2010. Now the evap core is leaking thru the dash vents. I have worked on most of my own vehicles but this is something I know nothing about. My local mech says 700.00 to do it. 7+hrs labor. I don't really have the money to do this. Is this something that I could do? I am on disability and am limited on money availability, so any help would be greately appreciated. Thanx. Is there a place I could download the directions and pics at ? Also the odometer numbers lights does not come on all the time and sometimes it will come on after driven a few miles and sometimes I can smack the dash and it will come on. lol

Im pretty sure the whole dash has to be removed to get to the evap core. Its a large and complex job and I wouldnt recomend doing it unless oyu have done that type of thing before.

You would probably get a better response in this forum: 1997 - 2003 F150
