It's a one ton, Dana 80 rear, 60 front. No support for the suspension so it just starts bouncing all around and breaking things. I need to get some ladder bars or trac bars. Kicker bars won't work because I have 5 helper springs stacked on top of the leaf springs.
oh ok yea ladder bars would help a ton, are you gonna get custom made or store bought? cause in my experiance built ones are twice as tough and half the price
Definitely would have some built, especially if I decide to do some truck pulling with it. I don't feel like dropping the driveshaft again! I have a new pinion yoke in the rear axle, slip yoke on the shaft itself, and output shaft yoke in the transfer case to rear driveshaft. Not to mention 4-5 u-joints in the process, I didn't damage a yoke each time the drive shaft fell, which was good, just every other time it seems like!! OH and a bellhousing spiderwebbed from torque stress of the clutch!! That was a WTF!!
dam how much power you makin? its gotta take alot to do that to a bellhousin like that, i managed to break a input shaft on a granny 4 speed with only the setup i got. i can only imagine how much "important" stuff you break lol
Barkin I wish I knew how much it was making. I know it was built for competition truck pulling. It still has the pulling loop on the back. I will get more pics on my profile soon. I know for fact that it has a big cam, due to its rough idle and the power it makes. I don't even know if it is bored out or if it is how much. If you let the clutch out and gas it just right it makes the front lift, not enough to come off the ground but enough that I can feel the frame twist.
It can and has destroyed a cocky little schmuck (and his girlfriend) in a souped up honda (You know like in fast and furious movies) stepping to me. I laughed as he was checking my taillights!
I saw a sticker that I am going to have made for my truck that says: My lugnuts require more torque than your toyota makes. I will put it next to my other sticker: Lowered trucks are for guys that can't get it up.
I have used it as a skidder at my cousins house to pull stumps out of the ground. I ripped a motor mount in half in 4 low when I was stuck. I knew that when the shifter took off to the passenger seat.
Now I have to figure out if my steering box is loose or if the frame is cracked near the box or what is going on because it shakes like a holy dink when I'm right around 30 mph. Then it goes away after that. I know all the ball joints are tight, I just checked them. I just put more balancing compound in the tires. I will try rotating the tires then go from there with inspecting the frame around the steering box for cracks or loose rivets.
haha i get that around here too, i guess people think my truck cant get up and go just because i have tires that weigh a ton lol, it must suck for them when they find out the opposite haha and plus it gives me a reason to blow out their eardrums with my straight pipes as they get left at the light lol
also check the worm gear for your steering issue, one of my buddys had that problem for a while and he completely lost all steering all a sudden, good thing it happened at the mudbogs
Puller, thanks for the Hooker PN. I looked it up at Summit and they say the headers are for 2WD trucks. I didn't see a 4WD Hooker header listed for an '86 with the 460... I'll keep looking but what you have may be a discontinued part if so you're a lucky dude! BTW, the pics didn't make it. Set up your gallery and put them in there; you can then link back to them from your post.
