Just curious if you followed up on this clicking issue ? Mine just started what I'm guessing to be similar BS, and I'm trying to nail the issue down. Here's my thread:
I heard your engine noise on your video and thats not the cam phaser. The phaser on mine is the passenger side at the front of the engine, and the knocking noise is the opposite of yours, it is a light knock at idle and easy driving then increases in vol. as the engine works harder like pulling a hill.
I asked about the cam phaser replacement to try to find out how long the repair last.
I read posts that say they replaced the phaser and have it go out in 25k to 35k, my truck has 180k on it and I dont want to be replacing the phaser more than I replace the tires, lol.
I also read posts that say not to worry about the phaser noise.
The early 4.6L 3V and 5.4L 3V engines had issues with the cam phaser and lash adjusters. My were replaced under warranty at 25K miles. I do not believe that they require frequent replacement if the parts are up to spec. Here is a TSB on the issue.
