Wife messed up one side of the box on my 97 XLT SCab 6.5' Styleside. Haven't had alot of luck finding a replacement and bodyshops want a mint to replace the damaged side. I started wonder if I can find a stepside box, would it swap out for a styleside?
Can you unbolt one box and bolt the other in? Are they the same length? Same bolt pattern and hangers? If swapped, do you need to change out anything else other than just the box? Will things like the tailgate swap from one to the other?
Right now I have no leads, so this is just questioning if this is feasible.
Thanks for any info.
they will both swap as long as both are short beds, tailgate, taillights and rear bumper are all the same (corisponding to each box) and will have to be swaped as well, im dong this swap soon as well..
there is 10 stepside beds avail 60 miles around you ranging from 450 to 900 all at larger yards
Yes they do and most are rusted out in the rear corners or dented up. If I replace I want a clean one or I'll have the side panel replaced. Just looking for options now. Thanks again.
Step side beds are fiberglass. So i find it hard to believe that its rusted.
Your filler neck for you gas tank will probably be different. And the tailgate, bumper and tail lights are different for a step side and styleside.
Brain dead right now - I ment styleside. I've looked at a few and so far they're rusted out in the backs of the fenders. I haven't looked any stepsides yet, fiberglass sides is good to know.
