So I purchased a 09 STX with the stepped or styleside- Which is the correct description? Any ways, measured the bed, approx 54x78. Do i have to get a special tonneau or will the same one fit from the non-stepside models?
You will want to look for a tonneau labeled for a "flareside" bed.
The term "styleside" is ford's language for a "regular" box side.
Might be more difficult to find since 2009 is the only year in this generation of pickup which was offered as a step side, and production numbers were relatively low.
I do believe that the flare side bed is same bed used from 2004 through 2008, I am not sure if they made hard surfaced bed covers but they do sell soft covers. the cover was made by truxedo.

Reason: additional info
We make tonneau covers to fit the Flareside beds on Ford F-150s from 2004 to 2009. You can see all three by putting your truck's details into our Cover Finder (Go to our homepage and scroll down halfway, on the right-hand side).
We have our covers on sale at 15% off on our online store right now, and if you spend $300 or more, be sure to type BLUEOVAL in the promo code box at checkout and we'll throw in a special bonus item for you because you're a forum member.
Found one at a decent price, will wait till my next pay period to order it. Will keep everyone posted when i order, when i get it, and I will post pics when installed!
