Just got home with our new 05 XLT V-10 4x4! It's Aspen green metalic (I haven't seen many this color) with a gray cloth interior and 65k miles. The exterior is almost perfect with a couple of light scratches on the rear barn doors, that will most likely buff out. The interior is clean with some scars on the rear cargo area side panels, I guess the former owners, the Army Corps of Engineers carried some tools back there, but the carpet is fine.
I have already started on my shopping list for mods and such. Will be adding the larger mirrors, brake controller, rear Helwig bar, front/rear springs and maybe RAS. I'm sure it will handle my current trailers fine with the stock 3.73's (7k max) we'll have to wait to see how much toybox we end up with to see if it will need a gear change.
I'm so happy to have found this site and it's great community and knowledge base. Think about how tough it would be to work at dialing in your rig to be the ultimate tow vehicle without the shared experiences and input of the members here. Thank you all!

I'm not far from you and I am 99% sure I saw that thing a few days ago on 422, except it had a front brush guard. Congrats, enjoy, it's pretty beefcake. I won't rattle you about the gasser, but you might get a couple jabs along the way, just remember no one means anything nasty by it.
If the scratches are on the top of the barn doors doors then its sort of normal. You can adjust the glass up a bit and that will eliminate it. There is also a TSB about 2 rubber bumpers that go on the bottom of the top hatch to keep it from hitting.
I'm on my 2nd Ex and both of them had that problem. I had it adjusted while under warranty and they also painted the doors at the same time. SOme EX's even came with clear tape on top of the doors to keep the doors from getting scratched.

One thing you may want to consider since your truck has low mileage is adding zerk fittings to the lower ball joints providing they are still good. I did this to mine and it helped the steering/wandering a ton. I also adjusted the gear box per the Ford procedure and I'm very happy with the way my truck drives and tows. HTH
Thanks for the warm welcome gang, I'm glad to finally be a member of this "club"!
I'll work on some pictures, will have to have my 13 year old help with that as I'm electronics challenged.
JaySVX, I don't think it was this one, shows no sign of brush guard and sellers photos were a week old. We aren't too far apart, maybe meet up sometime. I'm cool with the PSD vs real motor jabs
katiesdad7, the scratches are on the door skins, there are some on the tops, I will have to check on the rubber bumpers and glass alignment.
RobRoss, How did you add the zerks? Did you just drill and tap for them? I have driven many Ex's during my long search and this one's front end feels as good or better than any of the others.
Thanks again for the welcome and these tips guys. I'm looking forward to getting to work on the Ex after our upcomming vacation.

Yes, just drilled and tapped it. I think the zerks I used were 1/4-28. Typically speaking, this area you are drilling into there is a "flat" on the bottom of the ball joint, it's not totally round. I had an 04 Excursion that I owned from 22.5k miles, the front end was always noisy, I changed the ball joints (upper and lower) at around 75k and the front end was very quiet, had I known, I would have changed them sooner or better yet added zerks. My current truck spent all of it's life in NC where the roads seem much better than in MI, I'm assuming that's why my current ones are still good. I added zerks to them at 90k and just turned 100k the other day.
