Yeah, you're batteries are most likely the culprit if they're that old, and you're going through starters like you are. Definitely the place to start and obviously worth replacing at that age. I was amazed mine were still working as well as they were, after sitting for 4+ years unused, and then me using the truck as a daily. Fired up almost every time (besides getting the 'click' sometimes). Shouldn't have put off replacing them as long as I did.
If you do need new cables, I got all mine online since the employees at the chain stores gave me a blank stare when I told them what I needed, and the local parts store wanted about $240 for the three .
Why not just buy cable material and new terminals?? 240$???? rediculis,,,also I would replace the seal at firewall to hood and stop that water problem,,LMC TRUCK or JC Whitney has them
$240 dollars is why I didn't buy from the local shop. I try to stay away from the chain stores, but no matter where you buy, it's garbage nowadays. I paid half that buying online, altogether about $120 for all new cables.
