AUGUST CHAT THREAD

Well I started the month by tearing into my 86 F150 and begin stripping it for whatever parts people want. I took the radio and put it in my 66 Merc, only temporarly until I get get the factory am/fm radio worked on. So the speakers are just under the seat and the wires under the floor mat. And I did all of it without making any new holes. Then I put the tach in my 90 B250 and that was easy, the top piece of the dash comes off and was able to run all the wires behind the dash with ease to the fuse block. and I just used a longer screw int he a-pillar trim piece so I didn't have to drill into anything. I like to use the factory holes that way anything I do can easily be reversed.

lookin good, I need to do a little work on my stuff but it is 106 outside right now so I will have to do it close to sundown or at daybreak.

Summer here in Oklahoma sometimes sucks, but i would not trade it for any other place.

Ain't that the truth! The heat is certainly on here in Ok, and my A/C is running hard trying to keep me cool.

I figured this was the perfect place for me to put my 2,000th post.......

wow good to know some folks are still alive out there. Seems like most people are busy with their summer activities and whatnot, but man do I still spend a lotta time on FTE.

I hope I don't get 2000 posts then, I don't want to have to deal with returning the piece of crap

Yup still alive, been busy with projects too. But can't get much done as its rains almost every other day this summer, I'm thinking of moving somewhere dryer like Seattle. Been here over 25 years and never had an issue with mold, now it's a big learning experience how to get rid of the crap. Working like crazy on other peoples projects, gotta finish fixing the holes and missing walls in my shed and the holes in the house before winter hits, or it tarp buying time.

after seeing the rest of the 80-86 forum, it seems like there are more people still alive than I first thought. the other forums I frequent are basically dead. Have you ever lived in seattle, or western washington for that matter??? I live about an our from seattle and yah it's beaut now but wait till spring/fall/winter, could be pissing down rain before u even know it. We ain't called the Evergreen State for nothing...

and yah, x2, returning a 2010 junker, they just can't build a real truck no more....

I've seen pictures of that area, almost got to go there once. Was looking at buying a business in upper oregon somewhere, but I couldn't go due to money making reasons, so my dad and brother went.

My housing deal kinda stinks. We rent, but if anything needs to be fixed he threatens to kick us out and bulldoze the place. We pay cash every month and there is no lease so he could do that. He also complains the house looks like crap. I don't have much money so I can't really afford to fix things so I've been using what boards and tarps I have around to cover the parts that are falling off. I know how to fix the stuff, just need the materials and they keep going up exponentially in price. So I can't afford to move and can't afford to fix the place so I'll keep tarping up holes until he kicks me out. Ok I'm done venting.

To each their own I just don't like any new trucks, they made them too car like, and not even the kind of cars I like. I'll buy a new vehicle when they come out with a simpler design, so that's not going to happen anytime soon.

I hear you tottally man. Today's trucks are plastic boxes with about 3.5 metric s**t tons of wires and computers in them. too much stuff to break.

You mean they'll custom build me a new F350 4x4 with a 300, ZF, D60 F/R axles holding 3.55 LS gears? Sweet!
Heck, for that matter, I'd settle for a 7.3 IDI Turbo, just as long as it didn't have a computer and 4.10 LS gears.....
Otherwise, forget it. I'll stick to my tried and true 80 model.

Perhaps you misunderestimated my post. For the 300/ZF I'd want 3.55's, and for 7.3 IDI turbo/ZF I'd want 4.10's, just no 'puter's on either.......

Didja catch the Dubya reference I threw in?

I caught it after you mentioned it. He sure is good at making up words....

why would you only want 3.55's for the little 300 but 4.10's for the big bad diesel????

I figure the diesel makes it's best torque a bit higher in the RPM range, so adjust gearing accordingly.
