I'd have 4.10's in either, cause then I'd throw some 35's on 'er. I'd be strongly tempted to have mine w/ a 460, but if secret technological advances in 4.9/300 tech allowed them to now have about 220 hp/ 400 tq, then I'd tottally go 300. maybe if they designed like a nice crossflow head and more advanced/higher output computer/injection/ignition system..........oh yeah....I'm aroused....
Awhile ago I went to a dealership with a friend so she wouldn't get screwed. The salesman asked if he could help me. I said if you have a F350 with a 460 and C6 and is all mechanically controlled you have a sale, he said ya that would be nice. Thought that was funny.
To each their own, I just don't like my vehicles half wires and half questionable metal.
A while ago I happened to happen by a ford dealer, and just for ****s and giggles I told them I was looking for a truck. The salesman asked me "what kind", I said, "pre 1996" he said no but he told me about some 2000 F150 4x4 that would've been "perfect for me" at only $10,000. I said no thanks and left....and ended up paying $400 for my truck I was looking for. the new ones just ain't the same.........and never will be.
I was on my way to a cruise-in with my Falcon when I spotted a Ford truck for sale. It's a 1979 F150 custom cab. It's got a 351 and an auto and is 4 wheel drive and has quad shocks front and rear. The reason the guy stopped driving it was because the choke tube thing broke off and the tailights stopped working. It ran and drove and stopped well going down the road. The roof and passenger door are smashed in because a tree had fell on it and the truck has not much rust. He wants $500 I'm thinking this could make a good winter beater. Now to find a way to come up with the money, if only someone bought a bunch of my 86 parts or other parts real quick, can't imangine this will stay for sale for very long. I personally still prefer the 80-86, maybe I can get it working and looking better and trade it for what I want or sell it for enough to buy what I want. Time to call in some favors, I'm lost without a working pickup. Sucks being broke all the time. Of course when I did make good money I had a yard full of cars, I miss those days of having a car for every day of the month.
Just the other day I decided to change the backlighting color on my gauge cluster....I bought a couple packs of red bulbs and popped out the colored lenses from behind the gauges....
Best idea ever. The red comes alive against the white letters and numbers. I had read somewhere on here about how red-lit gauges help preserve night vision and prevent eye fatigue compared to other colors....so far from what I can tell, it does help with night vision. Seems like my eyes aren't having to adjust from the low light outside to the somewhat bright greenish gauges.
I'll try to get a pic posted soon. I put a red 194 in my Autometer volt gauge too, so now everything matches.
I eventually want to recolor the little headlight switch/wiper switch legends and the HVAC controls in red too. I recall ctubutis doing a writeup on how he did that very thing....
I was thinking of changing the light sin my truck to red as well, that is my favorite dash light color. I would love to see pics of how it turned out.
Well it was 95 degrees today, so I figured it was a good day to put some vinyls on my car. I like them. Wish they were longer stripes so they would go down the trunk lid as well. I also flushed out the cooling system again in the Falcon I keep getting blockage and keep flushing it out very much through every hose. Some day I will get it to stop doing that, drive until it pukes in the mean time.
I'll try to get pics soon. It turned out much better than I ever expected it to. After driving around with red gauges for a couple evenings, it is in fact alot easier on the eyes. And did I mention, it looks just plain sick. lol
And surprisingly, the little blue-green plastic factory bulb covers from my tach cluster are in almost pristine condition. Not cloudy or crumbly. The ones from my non-tach cluster that came with my truck, those pretty much disintegrate when I pick one up.
Oh and yesterday I took a load of junk to the city dump. Loaded the bed with old computer parts (cases, boxes of old motherboards, keyboards, etc.), and brought along a little (10ft?) enclosed trailer full of random junk from a shed at my church that I helped clean out months ago. To get there I had to go down a pothole-encrusted road, and then a gravel road. Sure am glad I got the radius arm bushings done, last time I went to the dump I hadn't had em done yet, and the whole ride was a concerto of knocks and rattles. Not to mention a wobbly steering wheel too. lol
Checked in, got my hard hat and vest, then once I got to the unloading site, I started flinging and tossing junk til all I had left were about six computer monitors (they don't accept TVs or monitors since they contain lead).
I'm noticing though that when I go long enough distances for my truck to get around 180-200F, I start having trouble getting the transmission to go into drive without me having to flog the gas pedal a little. I can drop it in Drive and it just sits there like it's in Neutral, but if I rev it a bit then it drops into gear and is fine.
From what I was told, it could be the torque converter...I tend to think so, seeing as once it does go into drive, it pulls fine and I don't notice any slippage...
The first is a diesel Ranger pickup, the small one. This is doable for price, but no nothing about the 2.3 mitsubishi turbo diesel, most likely won't be able to haul much or do well in teh deep snow.
The second would take some work to get, but seems like a decent truck and is very close to me. Again I know nothing about the 6.9L diesel
The third would just be freakin sweet, that is my kind of pickup.
I say go for the 1984 Ford F250 Diesel 2WD. You could probably haul more than your van with this one. But I really like the INTERNATIONAL 6x6 truck too...If the price was right.
If I had the money for that International I would definitely go buy it, especially if it is a 6x6, about all the closer I'd get to a military 6x6 deuce and a half. If I had the money that's what I'd love to get is a military 2.5 ton 6x6 truck, make a great daily driver, especially out here in deer country.

Red bulbs are also sometimes used in the poultry industry to prevent Cannibalism.Supposedly everything seems the same to them in red light,so they're not as attracted to the other livestock in the pens.
