I tend not to go to the Fair anymore. When I was in highschool, I spent 2 summers working at the fairgrounds, and got really tired of the place. Then I had to work fall fair weekend for 4 years in a row. Now I don't bother.
Fricken packed last Sunday, there was free admission from 9 AM till Noon. Everybody and his uncle showed up. We left the house about 10:30, and about half a mile from the Hastings Street exit off hwy 1 up to the light at Cassiar and Hastings took 45 minutes. So we didn't exactly make it before noon. Got in about 12:30. And there were cars unloading passengers ON THE FREEWAY so they could run to the gate and get in free.
In hindsight, we probably should have gone Monday or Tuesday... Would have cost the same amount of money, but with a smaller crowd.
Anyway, in other news, my cousin's son and his girlfriend had a baby girl on Tuesday morning.
I think the last time I visited the PNE was when David Lindley played the Aquastage. It was a good show, especially when some looney jumped the barriers, climbed a high dive tower, jumped (survived), climbed out of the pool and got away from security. That was around the time they had demolition derbies and car crushing monster trucks.
I visited the Cobble Hill Fair today (Vancouver Island). A good display of vintage machinery (engines, tractors, chainsaws), including a couple of International trucks, but no old Fords.
