another EOT ?

i fianilly got to spend some driving time last night with the edge insight working. here is the readings i got:

outside air temp about 85-90.

55 mph= a 28 degree separation ECT=185 EOT=213-215 range
60 mph= around a 30 degree sep
65 mph=35 to 40 degree separation
EOT would qiuckly cool down when slowed down to go through towns

later on i programmed the rpm to moniter beside the temps
it looks like i can figure on a idle temp seperation of 22 to 25 degree between ECT and EOT
the separation increased by about 2 to 3 degrees for every 250 RPM's of enigine speed .

the highest oil reading i got was 223. coolant temp was 190-193.
most of my driving is at 55-60 mph .ECT runs between 180-185 . so this should make my EOT run 210- 215.
what kind of temps are you all seeing before the Coolers fail? I need to make it aleast another 2-3 months before i can afford to fix this oil cooler add the coolant filter and the egr cooler.

Those numbers are definetley not good. Anymore than a 15 degree spread between the two is trouble. How long...who knows?? If you can't do the coolers now I suggest doin a major coolant flush. It may not help much though... My opinion, park the truck before it costs you alot more.

ECT 180-185 sounds low. You should make sure your guages are reading correct.

Agreed, ect should be between 195 and 205. Sometimes higher depending on conditions. However the spreads are still disheartening and predict future failure.

i am planning on changing out the cooler in about two weeks. just have to try to limp it through. i was wondering about that ECT temp too. i am wondering if the thermo stat is in or froze open. truck does warm up quick though but i have had the insight since thursday night and yet to see a temp over 190. i was really hoping i would have to join the cooler club so fast after purchase but that is what i get for buying a 6.0 without researching first. but i like the truck and it has a lot of power for stock. now how do i break the news to my wife?
