i just rebuilt my 2bbl carb on and truck is running better but just seems to be a little slugish on take off im thinking the timing is off a bit ,ive always set by ear, i wondering can someone tell me the proper way to set the timming with a light and vacume gage ,i have them just never used them ....
Timing light: black wire to ground and clip the pick-up on the #1 spark plug wire (first cylinder on passenger side)
Vacuum gauge: use a full manifold vacuum, either a port on the intake manifold itself or tee into an existing vacuum line such as: transmission modulator line, power brake booster.
Set timing with vacuum advance disconnected and plugged. Set to around 10-14 degrees BTDC.
