If you know you're stuff, you can definitely tell the difference between a bump and dent tailgate. IMO it is definitely a faux pas. That being said, I'm really liking that handle, I'd imagine it could be adapted relatively easy.
Unfortunately I sold me 2 bumpside tailgates before I really looked into this but from what I remember there is enough difference between the bump and dent tailgates to make it involve some "effort" to put that style handle in a dent tailgate.

I absolutely hate the Dentside tailgates... the typeface is dumb, why there is TWO indentations (upper and lower) is beyond me, looks retarded.
The bump tailgate looks just fine with a little sheetmetal work.

Ok, I'll have to take your word for it on the sheet metal work. I checked your gallery and couldn't see a pic of your tailgate. I have not seen a bump tailgate on a dent that looked right to me, or vice versa. The body lines just don't match up.
I'm with 704 on this one. I don't personaly like bump gates on dents and I don't care one way or the other on the handles. That being said I have a very nice bumpside gate that I would gladly trade for a nice dentside gate for my slammed crewcab if anyone is interested.

I haven't finished it yet. I have ADD or something, a 3G swap, which led into a Mark VIII electric fan, which led to adapting Hydroboost, to installing 3.00 highway gears, to changing to a manual transmission to...

I ended up with a 5:1 1st gear T19, not sure what to think about it right now, I have driven the truck around the neighborhood a few times and it is definately on the steep side, but not necessarily useless.
I have a bump tailgate on my truck, I am in the process of slightly altering the bottom "crease" to match the dentside tail light accents.
No real biggie, the latches, hinges and supports work perfectly fine.

While I think the pull out handle is cool, I just cant get past the fact that the bed and tailgate dont line up well. The top looks fine, but the bottom is WAY off and will require more time and effort than its worth. To me at least!
