Just because it's rare doesn't mean it's worth anything. These trucks are not that valuable, only appeal to certain people, can be expensive to restore.

I started my project with a $4000.00 budget to get the truck running, and the outer body work done. I am almost out of money, and it should be on the road by the end of summer. (No bodywork yet.) Oh well, I really love the work , and I will love driving the truck.

Ford assembled more than just 1,028 Flaresides.

The '64 F250 4WD was also available as a Cab & Chassis (410), Styleside pickup (2,232), Flatbed (29), and Stakebed (68).

I've listed 1961/66 production figures for every body style of F100/250 2WD & 4WD, and F350's multiple times here on FTE in the past. I'd rather not have to do it again.

These production figures were taken from the: Standard Catalog of Light Duty Ford Trucks 1905-2002 / by John Gunnell / krause.com / ISBN: 0-87349-411-3.

It's currently out of print, so if interested...you'll have to hunt around for a used copy.

They made more style sides because its more useful and bigger. I fail to see the utility needs of a step side.

Flaresides (stepsides are GM/Chevy's) were the cheapest of all trucks.

The reason they are scarce today is...most were strippers (had little or no options or accessories), were sold as fleet vehicles to the Gov't, construction co's., small business owners, utility co's., airlines, RR's and etc., and...

Were driven until they fell apart.

Ford Dealers hated to take Flaresides in trade because they were very difficult to resell. Most people wanted Stylesides

Our first truck was a brand new green/white '73 Styleside with the 8' bed. Salesman sold us on it the minute he told us we could carry a 4 X 8 piece of paneling or plywood laid flat in the bed! Can't do that with either a flareside or 6' styleside (tailgate down don't count!)

There is ONE HUGE thing to keep in mind when discussing 2 and 4WD trucks and Styleside beds...yes, Ford DID call them both Stylesides...BUT the beds are ENTIRELY different...ANY 4WD truck with a Styleside bed will use the 57-60 version single wall, round tail light version...ALL 2WD Styleside trucks will be referring to the double wall Styleside bed used in 65 and 66 on their 2WD as well. This applies to all 64-66 model year trucks...63 is an oddball as it was a transition away from the integral bodied trucks and some of those 2WD trucks did have the 57-60 version bed typically worn on the 4WD F100-250 trucks where the Styleside bed was used...The sole exception to the bed rule is the 66 F100 4WD as it used the double wall bed as well...

For 1965, there are no production figure breakdowns available as to what was 2WD or 4WD...all were lumped together. So...what info is available is basically useless.

The Standard Catalog has much more than just production figures. It can be used to decode VIN's, has all exterior paint colors listed, the optional packages listed, many of the accessories, chassis info, historical data and etc etc etc.

Do you have a pic of this? hivoltj might be interested in the look of the 4x4 styleside bed - he was asking about that in his poll on bed options. I'd like to see it too!
