Maybe not a total waste. Ford Racing Performance Parts makes conversion brackets for using the 5.0 serpentine parts on the 351 (5.8L). This may or may not be all you need, depending on which accessories you want to use, or which serpentine pieces you're using.

Thanks ,1983 is one of the years listed and that is what my 351 is. Thanks for that info as it is now book marked.
