The truck is an 84 F150 with a 351W HO. It has a Holley 4-barrel manufactured for Ford. I have the carb off and I want to get a rebuild kit but would first like to know what model I have. My 1984 Ford car shop manual says that Mustang/Capri 302s came with the model 4180-C, and boy my carb looks a lot like those pictures. The I.D. tag has the prefix E4TE and suffix ARA, and definitely notes that the carb was made in 1984. I'm not sure where else on the carb to look. The choke plate has "410" stamped on it if that helps. I put in a remanned longblock into this truck and used the intake/carb off the old engine. I could tell on the old engine that somebody before me had changed or at least took the intake off the engine at some point. In other words, I'm not 100% sure that this is the original carb, but I think it is. Oh yeah, I got the whole smog setup with EGR valve plate under the carb, if that matters. Thanks in advance for any help,
Tom
Try calling Summit for a rebuild kit. 1800 230-3030. They should be able to help in identifing it and providing a rebuild kit for it. I just looked through their on-line site. They have a 4175 listed. But I know they can get other rebuilds. Hope this helps some.
Chilton's No. 7635 shows that as the original carb for an '84-'85 truck and calls it a 4180C. Some info from another site indicated that there MAY be a suitable Holley kit no.:
"...3-1346. The jetting is a 62 in the primary and a # 3 plate in the sec. the pump nozzle is a # 28...with a 2 stage power valve."
You'll need to get the list no. off the carb. Look under the E4TE-9510-ARA stamping. Probably will be something like "List 50265". Your parts store will probably use that to give you a rebuild kit--but expect it to be significantly higher ($45-$55) than the run of the mill Holley kit ($15). Some report luck with buying the cheaper Holley kits and using the parts out of them. But all recommend using only a Holley kit. From what I read, Ford used basically the same carb on some '83-85 Mustang models. Try a search for "carbedMustang" and then search the archives there for "4180". Good luck.
Thanks guys. It dawned on me to check the Motorcraft website, and sure enough, following the menus, I get to the rebuild kit I need. The description of the kit says its for the carb with the ID numbers on the tag I have. So I call a Ford dealer with the catalog number and he says they can easily order it. This kit is $82.00 though, why so much when I see other kits for 4150s and 4160s for $25.00? Would it be cheaper to go to NAPA or another store and have them order it? Anyway, now I know what I need, thanks for the extra info and help. I'm sure I'll be back when i start the rebuilding, I've never done it before.

The 4180 has some differences from the 4150/4160 series. The idle mixture needles are in the throttle body rather than in the metering block, and are reverse threaded--you turn out to go leaner, in to richen the mixture. There may be idle needles for the secondaries too, although I'm not yet clear on that point. The power valve is two stage rather than single stage. The choke is usually six volt rather than 12 volt. And so it goes. The "EC" you may sometimes see after the 4180 model designator is commonly believed to stand for "emission carburetor"--may be so, or it may be "electric choke". In any event, Holley built them for only a few auto manufacturers and they are much lower volume than the other Holley series. The one on my truck came off a 1985 Mustang--NOS examples of that same carburetor allegedly go for as much as $800.
