E4OD overdrive light on

I have a 1993 Ford F 350 4x4 dually crew cab with an E 4OD transmission. Out of the blue the OD light came on and I don't know what the issue can be. I also noticed that it shifts hard and I've lost the overdrive feature. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom.

You have already checked this i'm sure but I just had to ask..

On shifting hard, is the speedometer working?

E 4OD problem

That was the first thing I checked, thanks for asking though. Years ago I had the same problem and found that the tach sender was at fault but in this case the tach seems to work fine where as before it did not.

Another stupid question, do the brake lights and tail lights work? One of them (can't recall which) is on the same circuit with the trans..

I had a problem with the OD switch wires a few years back, and everytime it messed up and blew the fuse I lost tail or brake lights..

Also if speedometer is not working the trans will slam into gears as it shifts in "limp mode"

The trans is throwing a code, you need to have it checked out.

Transmission OD light comes on

How can you check for codes?? When I'm going about 40 H.P.H., the transmission will go into and out of OD when I push the button but the light continues to flash. Still shifts too early, any ideas?? Thanks, Tom.
