I've an 88 XLT Bronco with the 302 engine and the 5.0L V-8. Because I have about 150K miles on it, and I was thinking on putting a SC, I turned down the idea for the moment and plan on rebuilding the engine first. I bought the Ford catalog where they sell a 302 engine rated at 345Hp at about $3K ready for the GT-40 intake manifold. Later then get the SC kit either Kenne Bell or Powerdyne....what u guys think??
Rebuilding at 150K? If you are dead set on a SC then its a good idea but like was already mentioned, I'd hate to have to keep that thirsty power plant hydrated.
Guess I'm just wondering what the SC is needed for? But then I don't run a screamer in any truck so mine is a different mind set. Gimme a 300 (that's 4.9l for you youngsters) with a little extra breathing and a little cam tweak and that little torque monster may not win an all out drag but after a day or 4-wheeling she'll still pull her weight all the way home and wonder why I'm tired already!
