1989 Engine Rebuild

I have a 1989 full size Eddie Bauer Bronco with a 302 engine in it that I'm looking to rebuild. It's only got about 130k miles on it, but it's running a little rough, was wondering anyone who's rebuilt theirs. How much did it cost, how long did it take, and how did you do it? Thanks!

that's not to many miles for a 302, have you gone thru all the typical tune up stuff to help it? Pull codes etc...

motor swap can be cheap or expensive, depends if you plan to pull motor. buy a wrecking yard engine or get new long block from Napa.

Unless you are an experienced mechanic, you would probably be better off buying a crate engine from a reputable company. The costs associated with a machine shop doing all the block work, head work etc. almost pays for 1/2 of a crate engine. And you still have to find a reputable machine shop.

We just got done with a complete rebuild on the 5.0 in my son's 1990 Eddie Bauer Bronco... they aren't cheap.. we had to replace a cracked head also... turned crank, new .030 pistons, cam all the pumps, etc... is like a new factory engine.. he has several thousand into it...
