Ok, so I realize after searching that this has been beaten to death previously in threads. I am just a bit confused about how to go about doing this. It seems that a lot of people are talking about using springs from newer F250's or similar and just replacing the spring to give you the 2" along w/ a good ride. Is there a certain year / model of F series that you can do this with? I've also seen the Pro Comp leveling kits but they only give options on 1997 and newer vehicles and show a "Torshion Key" type set up. What is this and why is it better or is it not than just replacing the coils? Sorry for the possibly dumb questions but is my first truck and really the first vehicle that I've worked with and all of the technical talk about lifts and leveling is confusing.
One other question also, I have been looking at 4" lift kits on broncograveyard and am confused as to how this would work. If the front of the truck is already 2" lower than the rear, if you lifted the front and rear 4" wouldn't the front still be 2" lower?
I have a '76 F150 4X4 with 32" tires. This truck is my 'daily driver' of sorts being that I am mostly driving the mini van w/ the family around but if I need to run into town or use the truck as a work horse, I do. I would like to be able to get into the dirt as there are lots of places to play near me and have two buddies that are now getting their 70's era Chev trucks up and going again after I have purchased this so I'd like to be able to wheel around with them as well.
Hope this isn't confusing and please ask any questions and I'll answer quickly!
Thanks so much guys, what a great forum for what is turning into a great hobby. Although, I can tell my wife isn't as thrilled as I am haha.
F-250s (4x4 years we are talking about) have front leaf springs so just forget about that unless you want a lot more work and fabbing.
Since you have coil springs in the front you need longer coil springs to raise the front.
