Verrrry interesting...but off topic.
Talking of strippers and all, anyone remember when Gypsy Rose Lee had a talk show on a San Francisco TV station? Used to watch it when I skipped school.
And I thought that was,"say goodnight, Gracie".
Towards the end of each Laugh-In (before Arte Johnson's verrryinteresting), Rowan turned to Martin and said "Say good night, Dick"
Martin then replied: "Good night Dick."
Good night Gracie = The Burns and Allen radio...then TV show.
I only lived in The City one summer (1954, my aunt lived on Taylor St), so I don't recall Lee's talk show, but...Speaking of strippers, remember San Franciscan Carol Doda...her snakes...and her bodacious tata's?
I'll betcha 'Ol Harley never heard a her (or seen her, either).
Hey, Bill, ever see any "before" pictures of Carol Doda? Her "store bought" tata's gave a second street bar national recognition for a short while. Had it not been for Carol the Condor Club would passed into oblivion unnoticed. Tom
Ferd Berfel was the next door neighbor to the Farkel family on the old Laugh-In show. All the Farkels had red hair and names that started with "F". I think Dick played the part of Ferd.
Look up Godfrey Daniel. W C Fields often used this term.
Say, it's too bad about Mike's oil leak.
I only saw the Burns and Allen TV show, betcha the line "say goodnight ,Dick" was taken from that.
Not familiar with term tata's, maybe from drummers slang, like paradiddle?
Anybody actually work on their truck today besides me?
I'm with OH on the "good night" line. T'was sorta what I was trying to convey.
Oh yeah, I remember Carol all right.
And finally, are we talking about an o ring inside the cable housing(as between the inner core and the outer shell, or between the adaptor and the tailshaft housing?

Have I mentioned that I hate speedometer cables?
Yes, and a new o ring doesn't always eliminate a leak. My leak is now displaced. The oil travels up the cable to the interface of the rubber cable and the swagged metal end. It now leaks right through there instead. You can't win...
