I'm just saying here but are you sure the transmission is the problem? This thing is computer controlled and VSS and TPS sensors problems directly effect the way the transmission behaves. I have seen threads here recently where guys have gone and replaced the trans only to have the replacement act the exact same way because the real problem was a key sensor failure. If you haven't done so already check the codes and address anything that is relavent, and if that does not remidy the problem then try swapping it out. F series E4OD's from this vintage are a direct swap as long as they come from a 4.9, 5.0, or 5.8 vehicle.
Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. We will do our best to get you the most accurate info we can.
Definitely pull fault codes before making the assumption that the E4OD is dead.
If it turns out that it truly is dead, seek out a 94+ model to pull the E4OD from. The electrical connector for the MLPS changed with the 94 upgrades. Be prepared to wire in the alternate connector. The upgrades that Ford made between the 93 and 94 model years make searching for a 94+ unit well worth the effort even if you do have to rewire a connector.
Thanks for the info, the tranny is definetly gone it went in dramatic fashion while I was hauling a boat. I found a rebuilt 4eod from a 95 f250 with a 351W and a fresher 351W from a 95 Bronco. If I get a good enough price I will throw both of them. Any tips on potential pitfalls welcome............thanks for the help
