High velocity pellet rifles do not develop the ft. lbs. of energy needed to reliably take out small critters like .22lr does, not even close........ever try the poor mans silencer for your .22?...... one of those small plastic pop bottles, fill loosely with cotton *****, perforate with several small holes and a larger one at the bottom, duct tape to muzzle........good for several very quiet rounds.

This is birthing season around here.
If the skunks have young in the den it's going to be real hard to get them to move out.
Skunks, like any other weasel, are opportunists and cascher's.
What is it they eating in your yard?

{EDIT} Nothing seems to like mothballs in its den. Try the big solid blocks that you hang in a closet. Cheap enough...

Could get a live trap and catch them, then try puttin a tarp over them after you catch them. Then take it out of town and then do whatever. They will more than likley not spray but no promises.

Put mothballs on the perimeter of your garden, and the skunks won't cross the line. Works here in NE PA! You'll have to replentish them after a while as rain will dissolve them.

I think you could just shoot 'em with a BB or pellet gun to annoy them. As long as you aren't close they probably won't even spray, just run away. Do that a few times and they probably won't come back. At least it would be fun and wouldn't hurt 'em (at least it didn't hurt my sister when we were kids).
