2000 F350 7.3 TURBO DIESEL WITH MASSIVE OIL LOSS
#17
Ok. Here is what I found..SO FAR.. I did the blow by test. Turned cap upside down. Stayed there till bouncing off.. I removed and tore the turbo down. Wet on intake side.. Dry on exhaust side. Up pipe clamp was loose on the back. Probably where the smoke was coming from.. Now.. My thoughts and guesses are.. Maybe, the up pipe being loose wasn't forcing the air through and letting it suck more oil out of ccv. It doesn't make sense, but.. I will see. I didn't see.anything wrong with turbo bushings, or gaskets, but I'm going to rebuild it, to be sure. I'm also going to rerouted the ccv. I'll post when done. I'd rather eliminate one thing at a time, but I'm to the point, where I need to be done.

An indicator of the bad injector o-rings would be a black fuel filter though right? I know he checked it before replacing the injector o-rings, but never said if he checked it again.

Not sure why you are saying I need to rebuild the injectors. Truck isn't missing. They buzz test fine and when I do a cylinder check all cylinders are doing good now. I only had the #8 At first. Swapped it to #4. Then when #4 proved bad, I replaced it. Haven't had any more problems, there. But still. I am kind of stumped..

NOW, That makes perfect since to me. I have checked and triple checked the drivers side, only because that was the side that was showing the bad injector. It's also the side I found the one bad o-ring on. I have the turbo off, waiting on a rebuild kit. I think I will go ahead and pull the lessen her side injector es, to be sure. This will be useful info to someone out there.. If your truck doesn't crank in the mornings and your glow plugs are good.. Check those o-rings.. This one wasn't.when I repaired the one, it fires right up in the mornings.. (Another reason I was pretty sure I had found my problem.. NOT THE CASE, though.

Ok, folks.. After dreading the turbo rebuild forever. I tore it down. There was 0 wiggle in the shaft, so I thought I was spinning my wheels. I rebuilt it. Everything looked good except the little (moon clip/ for lack of a better word) that went on the intake side of the shaft. Thinking to myself the whole time. This ain't possible! Guess what! It's possible. 50 miles, no smoke. No oil loss. I did a bypass on the ccv, just to rule it out.. I hooked it back up, still no smoke. Thanks for the help, everyone!
