sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't

Yes i tried. It doesnt affect it or help it. Initially, before I swapped out the IAC I couldn't get it to not start to try and press on the gas, imagine that. But the part was cheap and easy to swap out so I was hoping to prevent the problem in the future, so much for that. I am getting tired of getting stuck places. Today when it wouldn't start I pressed the gas and it didn't seem to affect anything, so I doubt it is a faulty new IAC. It still cranked for a couple of seconds and then nothing. I tried it about every five minutes for a half hour and could never get it started so I had to get it towed. I'm not sure where to go from here. Any more suggestions????

When it's doing this "no start" you have to check a few things. Fuel pressure for one. You might have a bad fuel pump. If you don't have a gauge, just get under the truck and whack the gas tank with a 2x4 and see if it'll start. If so, it's the pump.
If there's fuel pressure when cranking, check for spark by pulling a COP and putting a plug in it, and ground the shell of the plug.
