i towed a pretty light trailer yesterday up the pass(to hoodoo)
trailer was loaded with about 26 tire barriers(bout 50-60lbs each) and goin up when really pulling, i styarted to smell the clutch. we replaced is a number of years ago, but havent putt all that many miles on it(maybe 5-10k)
so i know the clutch is good, the problem, is it doesnt have the holding capacity needed for towing.
so my question is.. what brand/ type of clutch do i use for towing? i was thinking of switching to an EXEDY, but im not sure if its really that much better. i have experience with exedy clutches in my cars(used for racing and DD) and they are definitely better then stock, but not by too much.
when you replaced the clutch, a new pressure plate got installed right? you shouldnt have that kinda issue on any aftermarket clutch for our truck. there are guys here pulling much larger loads on a number of different clutches.
