Headlight Harness

Anyone bought the heavy duty headlight harness from LMC?It is supposed to draw current direct from your battery instead of your headlight switch. Just wondering how hard it is to hook this system up.

I have and it is super easy. The only part I didn't like was the shrink wrapping... it was a hideous bright yellow.

So I recovered the shrink wrap with my own black style.

The new sockets and harness are high quality, the relays are good quality. And it really does make a huge difference it the brightness.

I think for the price it can't be beat, even over making your own harness the parts alone would exceed the LMC kit.

Agree, for 30 bucks it's a cheap and easy upgrade with beneficial results, plug-n-play.

No, like Montana said it is plug 'n' play.

You disconnect both headlight sockets. PLug the new harness into the passenger light socket and run the new harness over to the driver's side headlight and plug it into the headlight. Leave the old driver's side headlight socket disconnected.

And then you connect the new harness into a Positive battery source, either direct to the battery or starter solenoid. Add a couple fuses and your done.

You don't do anything to the headlight switch.

I have just received one to install in my truck.. I don't see any fuses with the LMC kit... I was considering adding them between the positive battery source connections and relays.... Is this what you did?, as the kit does not supply them between the power source and relay?

I added my own fuses, 30 amps per side.

I put on in Josh's 79. With their headlights that take the H4 bulbs. It is a night and bay difference, But the harness as stated above has a hideous yellow wrap on it(i cut it off and put on black wire loom). The other thing i did not like is that they gave you no extra wire to work with, the harness is almost pulled tight from one headlight to the other, but it works

Hmmm i didn't have that experience with mine, there was a little slack there, maybe a few extra inches.

Where did you add your two fuses? I am soon going to be using the same kit so I can take full advantage of my recently added 3G.

I added the fuses before each relay.

I didn't have that experience either. Plenty of slack. I also have the upgraded headlights with the H4 bulbs.

I added this harness a couple weeks ago. It was plently long but I don't like the headlight sockets all that much. The wires are coming out of the back of the socket at an angle instead of straight out like the originals. I may buy two new factory style sockets to splice in. I need to add two fuses also. I covered the yellow wrap in black plastic loom. The lights are quite a bit brighter but still not just great. I'm still waiting for my Conversion lens to come in so I can use the 9003 bulbs. Since the wires were long enough I ran the 12v supply straight to the batt, the starter solenoid is already a little cluttered.
