i just got done wit my headers and ran good no leaks nothing...now 2 days later its running rich and sounds like open headers, im finantualy drained right now, i need a cheap easy fix. any ideas??
its behind the motor because up front it sounds like it did when i had manifolds i really think its a crack somewhere in the pipe because who ever did the pipes didnt bend them with the seam, its goin to the muffler shop when i get the cash built up, im just loooking for a way to seal it so its not as bad and i wont go crazy listening to it
ohh yea a lot more pick up in her and i could hold 2nd gear until i was at 35 and 3rd would go to 50 and previously it wouldnt make it to 45 befor i had to shift it was nice
do you have any seafoam ??
if yes, the pour it into the brake booster vacuum line until the engine dies......make sure the *** end is down wind......and let it sit for about 20 minutes.....crank her up and look for the smoke....you will find any leaks real fast......and you clean the carbon on top of it !!
not sure if being that close to manifolds would work, but you could try some muffler bandage to try and temp plug it off till you can get it fixed
i have seafoamed it befor just to watch it smoke and did not even think of doing it agin to see the leak! man i feel so dumb...its been a good while since the last time i did it so it should smoke a good bit agin
THANKS!
Did you get the paper gaskets with them? If you did they suck and you should get metal ones...always check your header bolts to because mine come loose after 11,000 miles
yea, best i remember headers need to be torqued every few months to keep the bolts tight, and especially the first few times you run the truck after installing due to the heat/cold cycle
