You can buy a box for about $100 that will hold two 10" subs. My personal favorite for the most bass and clarity are the pioneer tssw2501.
As for your door speakers, if they sound like crap even at lower volumes, you could have one wired out of phase. As for a 4 channel amp, don't buy cheap crap. They only pioneer that I like is their PRSA900. Otherwise, MTX and Planet Audio have way better THD rates and good crossover setups. Cheapest one I'd go with would be a Kenwood KAC8404. Higher THD rating but not bad, still at 1% or less.
I cant get the MTX's to give much sound without distorting any tips are welcome.
Follow these steps to the letter. <a href="http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/FAQ/index.cfm#setGain" target=_blank>How do I set the gain on my amplifier correctly?</a>
Also, If you want very decent low end and have it compliment the interior and be discrete about it you should look at the vehicle specific MTX Thunderforms.
I've got the amplified system with 2- 10" Thunder subs and my bass very rich, very low, and can get very loud. You can see it in my <a href="https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/883808-2003-f-250-super-duty-super-cab-audio-build.html" target=_blank>Ford F-250 Super Duty Audio Build. </a>
in my 96' F150 extended cab i am currently using the same hu as you are and pioneer kappas. For a while untill i got enough money those served me fine and were great. Eventually i got a alpine type r 12 with a alpine mono sub the type r was rated for 550 rms and the amp was 600 watt. And again for a while i had to wait but i found a great deal for a 4 channel my buddy was giving away. It was an old boss that was rated at 1400 and now i cant be happier! alota the guys dont trust the older amps but for 50$ i couldnt be more satisifed!! And a 4 channel will make a HUGE difference in sound quality and lots of more power no doubt. There isnt any problem with having 2 amps rather than one inless of course u are pressed for space
I'm all about running an older amp they seem to hit harder IMO but they aren't as clear but then again I'm not going to a competion so it good enough for my liking
Well I installed the sub box that I built from the plans that Bridge posted up and it works great! I am running the MTX door speakers off my Alpine MRV 300 and they kick hard, but sadly I kicked the fronts to hard and they are toast they still work but make some nasty scratchy sounds at low volume, hard to hear up loud but still there. So I will have to pop into future shop for a new set. Thanks for all the info much appreciated.
