Apparently this is on top of the differental, on a previous post someone said to check the differental fluid; on a F-250, 2001, 2WD is the differental not a sealed unit? Or is it able to be filled?
I do not think that any of Ford's Super Duty axles were of a sealed design. If memory serves me correctly, they simply use a synthetic lubricant that does not require changing unless the axle has been underwater. Remember to get & add friction modifier if you have a limited slip rear axle & you drain & refill it.

ill beleive that when my shat turns purple, and smells like rainbow sherbert lol. I changed mine at 60K and im glad I did. I also put the 08 rear cover on. Yes you do need to add friction modifier when you change it, your limited slip will love you for it.
That's from Ford, not me. I, personally, would change it from time to time. No lubricant has the endurance to last forever & still provide the necessary lubricity needed by meshing metal parts, IMHO.
I know it is, I didnt mean to point fingers lol My rear diff fluid looked like death when I changed it. the front wasnt too bad. I put motorcraft stuff back in, dad works at the Dealership and I get a discount on stuff.
