wow thats a big tire! How much lift do you have on your truck?

I think you would want to go to 4.56 gears though to move them well.

I second that you'll want a 4.56 at least, if not more.

Found this a couple weeks ago on a FTE sponsers website

What Gears Should I Buy? at AmericanTrucks.com - Free Shipping!

I'm curious as to how hard it is to regear my 4x4 f150 to 4.10s myself

From what I understand its not too bad to either have your truck regeared or if you are handy with the wrench then to do it yourself.

If you are putting that large of a tire and plan to do some off roading then I would go ahead and upgrade the diff cover even if you don't have to.

Gear swaps are not something a backyard mechanic should attemp. You don't want to have to buy gears and master install kits twice.Plus if you replace carrier bearings you will need a press.

I have 35" tires and still have the 3.73 in the rear. I'm sure new gears would help but it isn't a dog by any means.

regearing a ford diff is not hard at all, definitely pick up a tech manual, and as long as you have the right tools, you can knock it out in your garage in a weekend. ford rears are definitely less of an a** pain than chevy or mopar rear ends.

Not hard for somebody that's done it before but the front diff is a PITA on a 4x4 with IFS.

Gear Ration Chart

4.88's should do good for you.

I found this link on another thread. It should help anyone who is looking at regearing or changing your tire size. Check it out...
