Got passenger side apart and upper ball joint is loose but lower is still stuck in there. Where can I beat it? I have beat it like crazy on the upper nut and the side of the lower and it wont budge, help.
When I did mine the only way i got them out was by pounding a pickle fork between the knuckle and the lower ball joint. Even with the pickle fork it took quite a few hits.
So I followed the advice of some on the board after some searching and flipped the castle nut over put it back on and hammered it....now the castle nut can work as a washer it no longer had threads.
Mine really came apart hard. I beat the crap out of it. Pickle fork. Torch and even cut it flush with a high speed cutting wheel, then drilled a hole most of the way through it. Then it finally came with the pickle fork. What a pain. It's a MN truck and everything is rusted on it.
Thanks, I never noticed that for years. Must have had a few the night I wrote it. Glad he got the ball joint out. My neighbors cheered when mine finally came. I was beating on it for hours. Just like when I pulled down a tree with my truck but thats another story.
