best location for

an EGT probe. I know many put preturbo, but seems that post turbo would give the most accurate reading wouldnt it as it would get heat from both banks plus ther is the issue of FOD if a probe breaks pre-turbo.

4-6 inches down would that work the best? gonna install some gauges but want them to be accurate, so convenience of install is not all that important.

Thanks

Hank I think pre turbo close to exhaust manifold is the most accurate read for damage causing heat.

If you do pre turbo put it in the drivers side exhaust maifold. That is the eaisest way and most accurate. If you do post turbo you will need to keep in mind the temps coming out pre turbo are going to be 200 or so degress hotter than what you are seing.

I'm seriously going to stop going into threads that aren't titled properly. It's a waste of time. I don't know where that damned probe goes, but I wouldn't know that we're even talking about a probe from reading the title. You could have been asking about a cup holder. Actually, I have an idea where you could put that probe of yours...

Please, title your threads properly. It helps others figure out what you're after and doesn't waste their time if they can't help you.

jay sorry that you get so excited over the little things. If you dont like the title then pass on. If you would like to express your opinion just remember that the probe location is about where to put it is close to where you are reading from or recommended.

Not all folks are so great to be thinking of the greater educated I guess and so we use titles to help get folks to,look maybe and the respond to the question, not to get on a soap box as they seem to think that the 10 seconds or so is just to great a loss of their time.

So once again sorry, but you have your opinions and many have theirs.

Agree with Texans
Here is probably the best place to install. But I would recommend pulling the manifold off to drill and tap so you can ensure no metal shavings are left in.

No, no, you got it right. I'm a grumpy old man. Just ask my ex-wife. But if you're going to see her, you had better bring pie. Or cake. Probably both. She gets nasty when she hasn't had her hourly pie and cake.
