I have a 1980 f-150 manual three-on-the-tree. A few weeks ago my shifter got real loose and I lost 1st and reverse. My mechanic said that it'd need a new steering column, but he wasn't sure how long it'd take to find one. I've been looking around at junk yards in Vermont and northern New York State, but I've had no luck. Any suggestions either on the problem or on tracking down a steering column would be greatly appreciated. I don't have a background in auto repair, so please bear with any follow up questions I might have.
