What frame rail width
Looking to find a pair of 351 W fender exit headers.. for my 79 ford frame. Could someone tell me what the frame rail width is.. " outside to outside" of their frame rails in the header area. 351W wasn't a 79 3/4 option therefore i'm trying to find out if 80+ fender exits would fit a '79 with the later motor.

80-up frame rails are wider. None of the 79 trucks used a 351w? If say a 1/2 ton used a 351w, I wonder if that would fit the 3/4 ton? You could order the headers from a local store and send them back if they didn't fit. That's what I did when trying to fit a 351c into a 53 f100 and tried 351m/400 headers. Those would not fit, so I took them back and found 73 mustang 351c headers did fit.

Hey thanks Franklin ( by the way your belt looks a smidge loose lol). Yeah i've been searching an can't find that they were offered in 79 or older{ for trucks that is.} But thats good news i think .. cause in theory if fender exit headers are wide enough for the wide ' 80 an up frame.. they should clear fine in the ' 79 frame. Now to just find out if they'll feel at home in the inner fender area. Thanks again

Don't know if I got the measurements you needed, but I measured my friends 79 4x4. Right behind the motor mounts the frame is 34" on the outside and 28" on the inside. Where the front cab mounts are the frame widens roughly .5" outside and inside. And right before the tranny crossmember the frame is 34.25" outside and 32" inside the frame.
